About Proven Track Record

The organisation was established by Nick Atkins, Brian Collison and David Goad who between them have worked for more than 80 years in optics, which includes experience in commerce as well as the clinical aspects of practice life. All have successful careers, in fact a proven track record, in topics as diverse management, effective use of marketing and information technology, as well as all clinical matters relating to dispensing and contact lenses.

Nick Atkins FBDO(Hons)CL

Nick Atkins is a Contact Lens Optician who has gained commercial expertise in sales and marketing working for Bausch & Lomb and more recently as General Manager of Advance VisionCare, a successful refractive surgery clinic, he established in Harley Street. During the past 18 months Nick has established his own specialist ophthalmic marketing and professional services consultancy, PTR Consultants Ltd. within the eye care industry. Nick currently boasts a pharmaceutical, RGP and a number of soft contact lens companies amongst his client base.

Nick has lectured extensively on clinical and business related subjects throughout the UK and Ireland. Additionally, has coordinated a number of clinical trials, co-authored posters and written clinical papers and numerous articles. He is also a long-standing ABDO contact lens practical examiner.

Finally Nick is a past president of the BCLA, and is a member of the ABDO Board of Directors and still finds time to do a weekly contact lens clinic in independent practice.

David Goad FBDO(Hons)CL

David has been responsible for training, contact lenses and retail operations as branch development manager for Melson Wingate Ltd. He is the author of a number of published papers on contact lens related matters and is a senior examiner in contact lens practice for the ABDO He is experienced in marketing strategy and well versed in general business management and specialist business systems, in particular with relation to information technology.

A former dispensing chairman of the BCLA council, he is known as an excellent and enthusiastic communicator. Apart from being a founding partner at Proven Track Record David is currently General Manager for the West Country based independent group “Robert Frith Optometrists” and is in private practice with Jan Goad & Robert Frith. He is an practical examiner for ABDO in contact lenses, a member of the ABDO exam board and Chair of the ABDO contact lens committee as well as being Chair of the new joint contact lens committee.

He acts as an expert witness for the GOC on as required basis.
